Joe Montgomery, BS, NSCA-CSCS, NASM-CES

Owner, Head Personal Trainer

Joe has nearly 20 years experience as a personal trainer. He created Industrial Strength Fitness with the goal of helping people of all ages and fitness levels achieve a healthier lifestyle.  Joe fought his own weight-loss battle for more than ten years, beginning in middle school.  Realizing that knowledge would be his best weapon, he attended UNC-Charlotte and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Promotion and Kinesiology, graduating Summa Cum Laude. 

 

Joe earned his Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and his Personal Trainer certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.  He is a Master Personal Fitness Trainer through the IDEA Health and Fitness Association. He works with clients of all ages and fitness levels and specializes in functional conditioning and corrective exercise for seniors and orthopedic post-rehab clients.

Timothy Glass, ACSM-CPT, AIS

Fitness Director, Personal Trainer, Active Isolated Stretching

TJ is a Marine Corps veteran that enjoys using strength-based conditioning to help people of all ages achieve their health and fitness goals. He believes in the importance of mobility, core strength and metabolic conditioning to live long, healthy lives. As a metabolic technician, TJ has assessed hundreds of people to determine the right intensities for optimal fat burn and provided plans to increase overall heart health. After the military, he had multiple mobility issues and became an active isolated stretching practitioner to help himself and others with shoulder, hip and low back issues.

TJ met his core group of friends years ago doing Triathlon training at the YWCA. They enjoy playing sand volleyball at Renaissance Park and often partake in the Riverjam Runs at the Whitewater Center.  He is a bit of a techie and founded a company providing virtual reality entertainment/education experiences to the masses and is excited for a future where fitness and technology are more intertwined.

Franky Riley, BA, NASM-CPT, AFAA-PFT, FMS, TRX

Personal Trainer, Functional Movement Specialist
 

Franky’s love of helping others and living a healthy lifestyle prompted her to become a personal trainer. She is known for her challenging workouts that appeal to both youth and adult clients. She graduated from the National Personal Training Institute in 2006 and earned her Personal Fitness Trainer certification from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. Franky maintains a Certified Personal Trainer certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and is Level One FMS certified through Functional Movement Systems. Also, Franky is a TRX Certified Trainer and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from UNC-Charlotte.

Leslie Misenheimer, BSN, NASM-CPT
Personal Trainer, Yoga Alliance 200 RYT, AEA certified Aquatic Instructor  

Leslie graduated from UNC Charlotte with a B.S. in Nursing. In 1996 she moved into the fitness industry with aquatics as her focus, due to her back issues and benefits she experienced in the water. Leslie received her Aquatic Exercise Association and ACE certifications and began her own personal training business. Leslie joined Joe at Industrial Strength 12 years ago and provides land and aquatic training.

 

Leslie is certified through the Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation Institute and NASM. Two years ago, Leslie completed a 200 hr certification and was certified Yoga Alliance 200 RYT 200. Her journey has assisted her to help clients improve in total body, soul, and spirit wellness. She works with clients who have different physical challenges and varying degrees of fitness.

Melissa Wilson, BA, Balance Point Pilates, YMCA

Lead Pilates Instructor, Group Exercise Instructor
 

Melissa has been a Pilates Instructor since 2007, and she loves the mind-body connection, clarity of thought, and internal balance that Pilates creates. Melissa earned her Comprehensive Pilates Instructor certification through Balance Point Pilates Studio and is a Pilates Member Alliance Certified Teacher. She holds a Foundation of Group Exercise certification from YMCA of USA. Melissa earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child and Family Development from UNC-Charlotte.

Joe Giarmo, BAA/MBA, NASM-CPT

Personal Trainer, CrossFit Level I

 

Joe has a Bachelor of Applied Arts (2007) and a Master of Business Administration (2009) from Central Michigan University. It was his passion for fitness, coaching and helping others, however, that led him to pursue a career as a personal trainer.

When asked what Joe likes most about personal training he’ll tell you it’s coaching and having the opportunity to be a part of how a client progresses, seeing them reach their goals, and ultimately live healthier and happier lives. For Joe, that’s what makes the job worthwhile and keeps him motivated to be the best personal trainer he can be.

With a background in various athletics, obstacle course racing, endurance training, CrossFit and coaching both youth and adults, Joe brings diverse experience and an ability to tailor his approach to any client, regardless of their goals or fitness level. If you train with Joe, you should expect a trainer who will both encourage and challenge you while holding you accountable to your commitments, all while having fun doing it!

 

TJ Mentus, BS Psychology, ACE-CPT, USAW 1, FRC

Personal Trainer, Youth Athletic Conditioning, Mobility Specialist

TJ has been a personal trainer for over 5 years. He fell in love with working out during offseason football workouts after seeing how it helped improve his on field performance and catch up to athletes that were more naturally gifted than him. During his college years he began to seek out more knowledge of health and fitness and eventually was spending more time on fitness than school. That’s when he decided to pursue his real passion and become a trainer after graduating. Fitness had been a huge part of his growth as a person and his goal was to use fitness as a vehicle for others to also improve their lives overall.

 

He takes an athletic approach to training. Making sure movement patterns are good and improved upon first, then building strength, muscle and conditioning to get the body performing the best it can physically.

 

These days he still spends a lot of time working out but now it is focused towards competing in local CrossFit and weightlifting completions, as well as the occasional Spartan race or random fitness event. He also has a pit bull named Jack that he rescued almost 5 years ago.

Bryan Crouse, BA, NASM-CPT, Spartan SGX

Personal Trainer, Obstacle Course Training, Conditioning Specialist

Bryan has 5 years experience as a certified personal trainer backed with over 20 yrs in a variety of sports, fitness training techniques and a nutrition lifestyle.  Bryan likes to challenge the mind & body to work together through stabolization, stretching, and strength training.  Teaching how the body should feel through progresive movement patterns while incorporating balance, posture, proper breathing, and mental control.  

 

He has a unique background in metabolic cardiovascular training techniques and creates individual cardio programs based on heart rate and exertion levels. He is currently working hard towards his Corrective Exercise Specialist and Precision Nutrition level 1 certifications.

 

Bryan likes to train outdoors pushing his limits through obstacle course race training, biking, skiing, running, swimming, hiking, climbing, and any new challenge!  His passion is to help anyone reach their physical & mental goals towards a healthy enjoyable life as long as possible.

Joelle Herman, BSN, Balance Point Pilates

National Certified Pilates Teacher, Group Exercise Instructor
 

Health and fitness were at the forefront of Joelle Herman’s childhood competing in gymnastics,
dance and track. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Education and a minor in Exercise
Science from Virginia Tech and holds a Bachelor of Nursing degree from Radford University.
After years of teaching many forms of group exercise, Joelle discovered Pilates to help her
rehabilitate an injury while training for triathlons.

 

Recognizing the beauty of the Method and its holistic approach to movement helped her complete her Pilates mat certification in 2011 followed by a 500 hour comprehensive equipment Pilates training program from Balancepoint Pilates in 2014. That same year she became a National Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT) - a prestigious international certification recognized for its high standing credentials. The quote by Anthony J. why she values continuing education to improve as a Pilates teacher.

 

Joelle’s knowledge and energy allows her to create a unique Pilates program for each of her clients to help them obtain their ultimate fitness and health goals. She loves cooking, spending time with her husband, two children and dog Ginger.
